Circle of Hope Cancer Foundation Makes Latest Gift to Calvary Hospital

News

Brooklyn-based organization has raised $105,000 to date for Calvary

On Saturday, September 16, more than 225 adults and children participated in the 15th Annual Dan’s 5K Fun Run/Walk in the Gerritsen Beach section of Brooklyn. This was the 15th annual event spearheaded by Dan Foster, a local cancer activist and 21-year cancer survivor, whose goal is to support families affected by cancer. The proceeds from this year’s event benefited the Brooklyn-based Circle of Hope Cancer Foundation (COHCF). Mr. Foster is a longtime volunteer for this foundation.

Before the event began, Harvey O’Brien, COHCF president, presented their latest gift – a check for $5,000 — to Timothy P. Barr, Executive Vice President, Calvary Fund. The funds will benefit the thousands of patients and families that Calvary helps each year in the borough. With this latest gift, COHCF has raised $105,000 for Calvary care in Brooklyn.

Since 2001, Calvary’s Brooklyn campus has provided its signature end-of-life to more than 5,500 patients and their families in this vibrant borough. CalvaryCare® is available at their 25-bed Brooklyn Campus (on the 3rd floor of NYU Langone), home care and hospice where people reside and through free bereavement support groups for adults, children, and teenagers that meet weekly in downtown Brooklyn. A Calvary connection is not required to participate in their bereavement support program.

For more than two decades, COHCF has supported Calvary’s mission of caring for adult patients with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. The Hospital is the principal beneficiary of COHCF’s year-round fundraising efforts.
