Hundreds of selfless people volunteer regularly at Calvary’s inpatient facility in the Bronx, the Brooklyn Campus, and for Calvary@Home. Manny Rodrigues is a great example of one of these dedicated people.

Manny owns a trucking company. About 10 years ago, he started volunteering for Calvary’s Bronx campus. He averages an incredible 30- 60 hours each month, happy to do whatever patients need assisting at meals, transporting them to the daily recreational activity, or simply keeping them company.

In addition to his “public” volunteering, Manny has been responsible for things behind the scenes. He hired professionals to reupholster the furniture in the hospital dayrooms. At Calvary’s monthly patient birthday parties, Manny replaced the plastic oral bouquets with real ones for patients to take back to their rooms.

Manny continues to volunteer here, citing the tremendous inspiration he receives from these courageous patients.
