SENIOR AMERICAN EXPRESS EXECUTIVE JOINS CALVARY FUND BOARD OF DIRECTORS 

BRONX, NY, May 31, 2011 – Calvary Hospital today announced that Louise M. Parent, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at American Express, has joined the Board of Directors of The Calvary Fund.  The Fund directs all fundraising efforts in support of Calvary’s unique and historic mission. 

            “Having board members with a strong personal commitment to Calvary’s unique mission is essential to our future success,” said Steven J. Golub, Chairman, Calvary Fund Board of Directors.  “We are confident that Louise’s insight and her global business experience will help us attract support for the important work that Calvary does each and every day.” 

Ms. Parent is currently the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of American Express Company, a position she assumed in May 1993.  She is a member of the company’s Operating Committee and Global Management Team.

Ms. Parent joined American Express in 1977.  In 1989, she was named General Counsel of First Data Corporation, the former information services subsidiary of American Express.  In 1992, she became the company’s Deputy General Counsel. She began her career in 1975 at the New York law firm of Donovan Leisure Newton & Irvine.

A trustee of Smith College and the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Ms. Parent is a director of A Better Chance Inc. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and on the Advisory Board of “The Studio in a School.”

Ms. Parent was graduated from the Georgetown Law School and Smith College.  She and her husband, John Casaly, reside in New York City.
