29TH ANNUAL CALVARY HOSPITAL AWARDS GALA
RAISES NEARLY $1.1 MILLION

NEW YORK, NY, June 13, 2012 – More than 450 people attended Calvary Hospital’s 29th Annual Awards Gala on June 5 at The Pierre. The evening raised nearly $1.1 million, the most successful gala in Calvary history. The proceeds will benefit hospital programs and services for advanced cancer patients and their families.

Steven J. Golub, Chairman of the Board of the Calvary Fund, and Louise M. Parent, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of American Express, Fund Board member and a dinner co-chair, presented The Calvary Medal to Ed Gilligan, Vice Chairman, American Express. Calvary honored Mr. Gilligan in recognition of his distinguished corporate and civic leadership, and philanthropic commitment to the Calvary mission.

Calvary Hospital is the nation’s only fully accredited acute care specialty hospital devoted exclusively to providing palliative care to adult advanced cancer patients. A 225-bed facility with locations in the Bronx and Brooklyn, Calvary is the model for the relief of cancer pain and symptoms for more than a century. More than 6,000 patients are cared for annually by Calvary’s inpatient, outpatient, home care, hospice, nursing home hospice, and wound care programs.
