  10th Annual Event Brings in New York’s Top Trusts & Estates Attorneys

BRONX, NY, September, 2013 – On Tuesday, September 17, Calvary Hospital hosted its 10th Annual Trusts and Estates Conference at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. The invitation only event attracted more than 300 -- a record for Calvary -- of New York’s most experienced trusts and estates attorneys. Over the past decade, Calvary’s attorney conference has earned a reputation as a must-attend event for trusts and estates practitioners.

This year’s program, moderated by New York County Surrogate, Hon. Nora S. Anderson, was entitled “The Ethical Considerations in Executing an Exit Strategy – Issues faced by the Trusts and Estates Practitioner.” The panel was comprised of:

  • Steven R. Finkelstein, Esq., Partner, Finkelstein & Virga, P.C.;
  • Barbara S. Gillers, Esq., Adjunct Professor of Law, New York University School of Law; and
  • Eric W. Penzer. Esq., Partner, Farrell Fritz, P.C.

The conference is organized by Calvary’s Professional Advisors Council (PAC). The PAC was established by the Calvary Fund, Inc. in 2001 to assist the Board of Directors and staff in securing the financial support required to operate the country’s only acute care specialty hospital dedicated to the palliative care of adult advanced cancer patients. PAC members are volunteers from the legal, investment, accounting, insurance, and banking professions.

The conference was chaired by Michael M. Mariani, Esq., Managing Director, Deputy General Trust Counsel, and Director of Trust and Estate Services, Fiduciary Trust Company International. All attendees qualified to receive two CLE (Continuing Legal Education) credits in Ethics and Professionalism.

Calvary Hospital is the nation’s only fully accredited acute care specialty hospital devoted exclusively to providing palliative care to adult advanced cancer patients. A 225-bed facility with locations in the Bronx and Brooklyn, Calvary is the model for the relief of cancer pain and symptoms for more than a century. Nearly 6,000 patients are cared for annually by Calvary’s inpatient, outpatient, home, hospice, nursing home hospice, and wound care services.
