D.) 31st Annual Calvary Hospital Awards Gala Raises One Million Dollars

NEW YORK, NY, June 18, 2014 – More than 400 people attended Calvary Hospital’s 31st Annual Awards Gala on June 12 at The Pierre in New York City. The evening raised $1 million, making it one of the most successful galas in the Hospital’s 115-year history. The proceeds will benefit Calvary programs and services for advanced cancer patients and their families. Radio legend John R. Gambling served as master of ceremonies. Broadway star Melissa Errico performed as well.

         Steven J. Golub, Chairman of the Board of the Calvary Fund, and a dinner co-chair, presented The Calvary Medal to two honorees: Arthur B. Crozier, Chairman, Innisfree M&A Incorporated, and Tim Main, Senior Managing Director, Evercore. Thomas J. Fahey, Jr., MD, presented The Annie Blount Storrs Award to Mark G. Kris, MD, an Attending Physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center who serves as their Lead Physician on the IBM Watson Collaboration. The three honorees were recognized for their distinguished corporate and civic leadership and outstanding philanthropic commitments to the Calvary mission. 

         Calvary Hospital is the nation’s only fully accredited acute care specialty hospital devoted exclusively to providing palliative care to adult advanced cancer patients. A 225-bed facility with locations in the Bronx and Brooklyn, Calvary is the model for the relief of cancer pain and symptoms for more than a century.
