Makes Gift to Calvary Hospital

Latest Gift from Local Chapter Brings Cumulative Total to $804,000

BRONX, NY, February 8, 2010 – On February 7, Calvary Hospital hosted 220 people at the 29th annual communion mass and breakfast sponsored by the New York Chapter Knights of Columbus. Chapter Chairman Joseph Haneman presented a check for $23,000 to Frank A. Calamari, President and CEO, of Calvary Hospital. For nearly three decades, the local Knights of Columbus chapter has supported Calvary Hospital by raising more than $804,000 for the Hospital’s unparalleled palliative care services.

Calvary Hospital is the nation’s only fully accredited acute care specialty hospital devoted exclusively to providing palliative care to adult advanced cancer patients.  A 225-bed facility with locations in the Bronx and Brooklyn, Calvary is the model for the relief of cancer pain and symptoms for more than a century.  More than 5,500 patients are cared for annually by Calvary’s inpatient, outpatient, home care, home hospice, nursing home hospice, and wound care services.
