CALVARY HOSTS CAPACITY CROWD FOR ITS FIRST EVER
BROADCAST OF ANNUAL HFA TELECONFERENCE
BRONX, NY, March 2010 – On March 24, more than 75 people attended a live streaming webcast at Calvary Hospital of the Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) 2010 Teleconference. This year’s topic was “Cancer and End-of-Life Care.” For the first time, Sherry Schachter, PhD, Director of Bereavement Support Services at Calvary, served as an expert panelist for HFA and the Hospital served as a community host site – the only one in the Bronx -- for the event.
The teleconference addressed care options as well as loss and grief reactions for patients, families and professional caregivers. It also covered psychosocial aspects of cancer, pain management, and ethical issues related to the disease.
A panel discussion featuring Calvary experts immediately followed the telecast. Many attendees were healthcare professionals (nurses, social workers, etc.) as well as members of the public. Attendees were provided with a certificate of attendance in case they wanted to obtain CEU (Continuing Education) credits.
