Calvary Hospital Hosts 20th Annual “Living with Cancer” Conference

Bronx, NY, June 2010 -- On Saturday, June 19th, more than 200 people attended the 20th Annual “Living with Cancer” Conference, hosted this year at Calvary Hospital.  The event benefits people living with cancer, their families, friends, and health care professionals, by offering practical information about how to live with this disease.  This year’s event offered diverse workshops such as: “The Power of a Plant Based Diet,” “Legal Issues and Cancer,” “Meditation and Yoga,” and “Survivorship Issues.”

Melissa Cebollero, from the Bronx Borough President’s Office, presented Calvary and its co-sponsors with a proclamation making June 19, 2010 "Living With Cancer: Confronting the Challenge Conference's Twentieth Anniversary Day."  
            In addition to Calvary, which is a founding participant of this event, the 2010 sponsors included:  the American Cancer Society, CancerCare, Continuum Cancer Centers of New York: Beth Israel and St. Luke’s-Roosevelt, Department of Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System Oncology Program, Gilda’s Club New York City, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society-New York City Chapter, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Montefiore Medical Center, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, NYU Langone Medical Center, The Witness Project of Harlem, and Weill Cornell Cancer Center.
