CALVARY HOSPITAL TO HOST 4TH ANNUAL PASTORAL CARE DAY
Theme will be “Healing Presence”
BRONX, NY, September 2010 – Calvary Hospital today announced that for the fourth consecutive year, it will host Pastoral Care Day on Thursday, October 28, 2010, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at its facility located at 1740 Eastchester Road in the Bronx. The event is recommended for doctors, nurses, social workers, and pastoral care providers in all settings, and other health care professionals. This event is open to the public. There is no fee for this program, but seating is strictly limited, and admission will be on a first come, first served basis.
Frank A. Calamari, President/CEO will welcome our attendees. Pastoral Care Day reflects Calvary’s philosophy and its core values of Dignity, Commitment, Non-abandonment, Compassion, Caring and Responsibility.
Attendees will learn from an interfaith panel of nationally recognized clinical pastoral care experts including: Reverend Dr. James Bryant (Pentecostal); Reverend Donatus Chukwu (Roman Catholic); Rabia Terri Harris (Muslim); Baba Antonio Mondesire (Santero); and Rabbi Zev Shostack (Orthodox Jewish). Each speaker will lead a workshop on an area of their expertise:
§ “Pentecostal Faith Healing, Illness and End of Life Care”
§ “Inner Struggle and Inner Peace in Muslim Spirituality”
§ “Ifá jé Ojú Iwósàa : Ifa is Healing Presence”- Exploring the Santeria/Yoruba perspective on health, healing and the dying process.
§ “Man is Not Alone -- I Fear No Evil for Thou Art with Me: Theological Resources and Strategies for an Effective Clinical Chaplaincy”
§ “The Role of Family and Healing Presence” – Exploring resources from Christian and African traditions.
