CALVARY HOSPITAL HOSTS ANNUAL ATTORNEY CONFERENCE

Seventh Annual Event Brings in New York’s Top Trusts & Estates Attorneys

BRONX, NY, October 2010 – On Tuesday, September 21, Calvary Hospital hosted its 7th Annual Trusts and Estates Conference at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.  The invitation only event attracted nearly 300 of New York’s most experienced trusts and estates attorneys.  A distinguished panel focused on “Ethical Considerations for the Estate Practitioner When Dealing with Incapacitated Persons – A Multiple Disciplinary Approach.”

The conference featured a panel comprised of:

§         Christopher P. Comfort, MD, Medical Director, Calvary Hospital;

§         Hon. Lee L. Holzman, Surrogate, Bronx County;

§         Michael H. Friedman, Esq., Partner, Kurzman Eisenberg Corbin & Lever LLP;

§         Marilyn G. Ordover, Esq., Of Counsel, Cullen and Dykman LLP;

§         Margaret V. Turano, Esq., Associate Academic Dean and Professor of Law, St. John’s University School of Law.

            The conference is organized by Calvary’s Professional Advisors Council (PAC).  The PAC was established by the Calvary Fund, Inc. in 2001 to assist the Board of Directors and staff in securing the financial support required to operate the country’s only acute care specialty hospital dedicated to the palliative care of adult advanced cancer patients.  PAC members are volunteers from the legal, investment, accounting, insurance, and banking professions.

The conference was chaired by Michael M. Mariani, Esq., Managing Director, Deputy General Trust Counsel, and Director of Trust and Estate Services, Fiduciary Trust Company International.  All attendees qualified to receive two CLE (Continuing Legal Education) credits in ethics.
