|Al Roker runs for Calvary|
We are pleased to announce that our longtime friend and supporter, Al Roker, has named Calvary Hospital as his sole fundraising beneficiary when he runs in the NYC Marathon this Sunday, November 7th!
Help Al Help Calvary
Somebody told me that running is 20 percent physical and 80 percent mental. I don't enjoy running. Yet, somehow I made it through the Chicago Half Marathon, and this year, I'm running the full ING NYC Marathon to raise money for Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY.
Calvary Hospital is especially dear to me as it has done so much for my family when my dad came down with terminal lung cancer. Calvary Hospital did everything in its power to make him comfortable and pain free so that we could focus on being a family one last time.
Now, I want to give back. On June 8, 2010, I served as the Master of Ceremonies at the Calvary Hospital's 27th Annual Awards Gala in New York. The evening raised an amazing $800,000 to benefit Calvary programs and services.
When my dad Al Roker Sr. was at the end of his life, I took him to the best place on earth, and I believe that this organization can help so many more families like mine.
That's why, despite the running, I'm entering in the ING NYC Marathon. Help support my run to raise money that will fund the most exceptional palliative care to adult patients in the advanced stages of cancer.
