Calvary to Host Broadcast of 2011 HFA Teleconference

CALVARY TO HOST BROADCAST OF ANNUAL HFA TELECONFERENCE FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

BRONX, NY, March 2011 – On April 13, from 12:00 to 3:30 PM more than 100 people are expected at a live streaming webcast at Calvary Hospital of the Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) 2011 Teleconference.  This year’s topic will be “Spirituality and End-of-Life Care.”  Calvary will be the only host site located in the Bronx at which members of the public can see the teleconference.  There is no fee to attend.

The teleconference will be addressing care options as well as various perspectives on the subject of spirituality and the experience of living with advanced cancer and other terminal illnesses.  It will also cover psychosocial aspects of cancer, pain management, and ethical issues related to the disease.

            A 30-minute panel discussion featuring experts from Calvary Hospice and Calvary Hospital is scheduled to follow the broadcast.  The panel will include:

§     Tony Susi, MSW, Director of Supportive Services, Calvary@Home of Calvary Hospital;

§     Marlene Humphries, RN, BSN, MS, CHPN, Director of Staff Development, Calvary Hospital;

§     Omar Rashidzada, LMSW, Social Worker, Calvary@Home;

§     Patrice Cashen, RN, CHPN, Liaison Nurse, Calvary@Home of Calvary Hospital;

§     Sister Betty Scanlan, Spiritual Care Provider;

§     Sister Eileen Clarke, Chaplain, Calvary Hospital.
