Calvary Hospital was founded in 1899 by dedicated volunteers with the supporting gifts and bequests dating back to the turn of the century. In the years since that initial bequest, estate gifts have played a significant role in sustaining the hospital and maintaining its high standard of compassionate care. In recent times, estate gifts have also made it possible for Calvary to extend its unique care beyond its location in the Bronx, to serve patients who require the Calvary’s expertise and assistance through a Brooklyn satellite and even in the home setting. These generous legacy gifts insure that Calvary’s core values—non-abandonment and death with without physical pain and suffering-- will extend to future generations when they need this critical care.
