Calvary Hospital

Since 1899, Calvary Hospital has been dedicated to meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of advanced cancer patients and their families, without regard to race, religion or economic status. Calvary is the only hospital in the nation serving this important mission.

Our guiding principles are compassion, respect for the dignity of every patient and non-abandonment of our patients and their families.

CalvaryCare® is available to people who have been diagnosed with advanced cancer and other terminal illnesses, which have not responded to curative treatments and require continuous supervision by a medical team.

Calvary is a restraint-free environment. We accept patients who are at least 18 years of age and who have a terminal diagnosis. We are not able to accommodate anyone on dialysis or a ventilator.

Calvary Today

Each year, thousands of patients and families benefit from CalvaryCare®. Inpatient care is offered at our 200-bed Bronx campus, 25-bed Brooklyn campus, The Dawn Greene Hospice at Mary Manning Walsh Home in Manhattan, and Ozanam Hall of Queens Nursing Home. We also offer comprehensive care to patients in hundreds of private homes and select nursing facilities in the greater New York area.

Calvary’s multilingual, multi ethnic staff is well-equipped to address the many cultural issues that often arise when addressing end-of-life concerns of our patients and families. Our staff is familiar with – and sensitive to – the needs of its religiously and ethnically diverse patient population.
