GALA RAISES MORE THAN $750,000

NEW YORK, NY, November 2019 — At their 36th Annual Awards Gala on November 12th at The  Pierre Hotel in New York City, Calvary Hospital raised more than $750,000 for programs and services benefitting Calvary patients and their families. Ryan Field, WABC-TV Sports Anchor,  served as the Master of Ceremonies. This year’s event also featured entertainment from The Chiffons, and Shirley Alston Reeves, original lead singer of The Shirelles.

Carlos M. Hernandez, Head of Global Banking, JPMorgan Chase & Co., and Chairman of the Board of the Calvary Fund presented The Calvary Medal to: Kelly C. Coffey, Chief Executive Officer of City National Bank, and David J. Arena, Head of Global Real Estate for JPMorgan Chase & Co. Ms. Coffey and Mr. Arena were recognized for their distinguished corporate and civic leadership and outstanding philanthropic commitment to the Calvary mission.

The event also included a special presentation of The Calvary Medal and the Annie Blount Storrs Award to Michael J. Brescia, MD, in recognition of his visionary leadership for the  Hospital. During his 56-year tenure, Dr. Brescia has spearheaded Calvary’s family-centric approach to patient care, helped the Hospital earn its global reputation as a leader in palliative care, and expanded care to patients and families from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.

“Our objective with each Calvary Annual Gala is to honor individuals whose leadership and career achievements are aligned with the Hospital’s mission of providing excellence in care,”  said Mr. Hernandez. “Ms. Coffey, Mr. Arena and Dr. Brescia, have all met these criteria over their respective careers. We are delighted let recognize them for their commitment to Calvary’s mission of caring for people at a most sacred time in their lives.”
