Calvary provides one of the New York metropolitan area’s most comprehensive bereavement support programs.

Calvary’s robust bereavement support program began over 35 years ago. Today, we provide one of the most comprehensive bereavement support programs in the New York metropolitan area. Bereavement Support is available to families and individuals who have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives, whether their person was a patient of Calvary Hospital or Calvary Hospice, or someone from the community whose death was attributed to illness, accident, suicide or violence.
Calvary began Bereavement Support to groups more than 20 years ago. Today, we also offer individual grief counseling.
The adult groups, available for a nominal fee, are organized by one’s relationship to the deceased, offering support for the Adult Death of a Parent, Adult of a Sibling, Adult death of a Child, Young Death of a Child, Death of a Spouse Partner and a general bereavement support group for Young Adults.
Young Adult support groups, groups for children (Precious Moments), and adolescence services for children aged 6 through 18 are provided at no cost.
All adult groups are facilitated virtually. In-person groups for children and adolescents are offered at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, and in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
Bereavement support is integral to Calvary’s core mission of compassion and non-abandonment.
If you’re interested in attending one of the support groups please contact us to schedule an appointment at 718-518-2281 for an initial screening and to schedule an intake with a Behavioral Health Bereavement Counselor or email us at calvarybereavement@calvaryhospital.org.
