Calvary’s bereavement support is available to anyone who has experienced a significant death in their lives, whether that person was a patient in the Hospital or at home, or someone from the larger community whose death was attributable to illness, accident, suicide or violence.
Throughout the greater New York area, Calvary is reaching more people than ever before.
CalvaryCare® continues after a loved one has died – through our robust bereavement support programs, which began more than 35 years ago. Today, Calvary provides one of the New York metropolitan area’s most comprehensive bereavement support programs.
Today, Calvary offers more than two dozen bereavement groups that meet regularly in the Bronx, and Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
Calvary’s adult groups are organized by one’s relationship to the deceased. Meaning there are groups for young bereaved spouses, older bereaved spouses, adult children, parents, and siblings.
The Hospital first began offering bereavement support groups more than 20 years ago for the families of our patients. Bereavement support is integral to Calvary’s core mission of compassion and non-abandonment.
In the New York metropolitan area, the Hospital has established itself as a resource for grieving families. It offers bereavement support groups, for a nominal fee, for adults, children, and teens, and referrals for additional support if necessary.
Anyone who is interested in participating must schedule a meeting with one of our bereavement counselors before attending their first session.
To schedule an appointment, please call us at 718-518-2281 or email the bereavement department for an initial screening and intake interview with a Behavioral Health Counselor.
