“When she passed it was in comfort, in her home, with me at her side, with dignity and grace… thanks to an angel called Nurse Kelly… and a miraculous place called Calvary.”

It was April, at the height of the pandemic. I was alone, caring for my mom and she was approaching the end of her life. If I brought her to a hospital, I couldn’t stay with her. So that was out. And every doctor and nurse we spoke to refused to come into our house.

That is until Calvary Hospital came and rescued us.

Our Nurse, Kelly quickly assessed mom and guided me through every step needed to get her comfortable and out of pain both physically and mentally. She was with us every step of the way, accessible 24/7 as we Face-Timed day and night.

With Calvary and Nurse Kelly, I was never concerned about mom’s safety. It was eight days until my mom passed on. When she did it was in comfort, in her home, with me at her side, with dignity and grace… thanks to an angel called Nurse Kelly… and a miraculous place called Calvary.

Sincerely,
Angela Calabrese

The Best Hospice Care in the New York Metro-Area

During his last days, only Calvary Hospital was able to relieve our son Greg’s cancer pain with peace and dignity.
No parent should ever have to bury their child. But on October 14, 2014, our son Greg, only 35, lost his battle with cancer. Courageous throughout his entire life, with a love for adventure and travel, it was heartbreaking to see him suffer. But thanks to you and your expert staff, you relieved Greg’s physical pain, and the emotional pain of our entire family, as well. For Greg’s final week, our family alternated our overnight stays, so we would always be with him. In fact, his hospital room became a sacred place for us, filled with peace and serenity. Your combination of professional expertise and compassion was remarkable. We have never seen such genuine care and concern. Believe us, we know. I’m a physical therapist, and my wife is a registered nurse. Greg lived out his final days with dignity and peace, in a place like no other. –Thank you Calvary Hospital.

“The perfect storm hit our family a few months ago. My mom – dying from Lewy Body Dementia – and me, her only caretaker – were drowning. It was the height of the pandemic. So if I brought mom to a hospital, I couldn’t stay with her (and I was her mouthpiece). Plus every doctor and nurse simply refused to come into our house. That is until Calvary Hospital’s Home Hospice came and rescued us.

Clothed in safe PPE, Nurse Kelly immediately assessed mom and guided me through every step on bringing her back to being pain-free and comfortable – both physically and mentally.

She showed me exactly what to do and how to do it, and was accessible to me 24/7 as we face-timed all hours of the day and night. Eight days later mom passed on, with the same dignity and grace she had all her life. We knew we were visited by an angel that God had sent. Yes, there was no one more wonderful than my mom. And there is no one more miraculous than Calvary”
